Actual and past projects
The project studies potentials, opportunities and risks linked to an energy strategy that goes beyond considering single buildings. With the objective to compare the traditional building by building retrofit strategy with a new combined approach that has measures dedicated to a single building but also considers connecting them through district heating, integrating renewable energy and considering an energy and economic analysis.
The developed urban energy simulation framework will help collectivities, urban planners and stakeholders to evaluate the environmental impact of cities in a changing climate and to provide a basis for testing new urban energy retrofit scenarios.
In the project simulation models of urban energy hubs and urban microgrids for a cluster of buildings or city quarters will be developed and coupled to city energy models, which simulate the energy demand, generation, storage and management of the buildings in the city.
Advanced Lighting Solutions for Retrofitting Buildings - Research and developments in the field of energy efficient lighting techniques encompassing daylighting, electric lighting and lighting controls combined with activities employing and bringing these techniques to the market can contribute significantly to reduce worldwide electricity consumptions and carbon dioxyde emissions.
